SILICONE BABY CATEGORY
This category is for artists who create realistic silicone baby dolls. Entries may be sculpted entirely by the submitting artist or painted from a purchased silicone kit, but must represent infant dolls only. This category celebrates skill, craftsmanship, and artistic creativity in working with silicone, including painting, hair application (rooted or painted), and finishing techniques. Dolls may be any skin tone, and artists are judged on their ability to produce lifelike and carefully executed baby dolls with attention to detail, realism, and overall presentation.
This category focuses on realism, softness, detail, and lifelike representation of infant dolls created from silicone materials.
This category is NOT for vinyl reborn dolls or fantasy/artistic silicone creations. Fantasy or artistic silicone pieces must be entered in their designated category.
WHAT CAN BE ENTERED
• Dolls must be full-body silicone and wear a diaper only.
• Dolls may represent preemies or newborns (not toddlers).
• Any infant-sized silicone kit may be used.• Dolls may be painted in any skin tone.
• Hair may be rooted or painted, but must be finished neatly and realistically.• NO props or accessories are allowed (except for basket filling for support).
• Silicone dolls may be sculpted by the submitting artist or purchased as a kit and painted by the submitting artist.
• Contestants must provide their own display materials.
• Entries must remain within the assigned display space provided by KDS.The Kansas Doll Show (KDS) will provide woven baskets for display; contestants must supply materials to prop their doll. Basket dimensions: 14" long x12.6" wide x 6" tall.
• Each basket must be covered with a plain white blanket, with the doll placed on top.
• The contestant number sticker must be clearly visible on the blanket.
• Each artist may enter one piece in this division.
• All work must be 100% completed by the artist.
• Entries must remain anonymous during judging.
WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED
• No props or accessories are allowed.
• Vinyl reborn dolls (must be entered in reborn categories), Fantasy, artistic, or non-realistic silicone creations
• Entries that cannot be safely displayed or supported within the assigned space.
• No rips, tears, or damage to the silicone
HOW ENTRIES SHOULD BE PRESENTED
• Dolls must be securely posed and safely displayed within the assigned space.
• Hair must be realistically rooted or painted with natural flow.
• Skin tones should show depth, layering, and realistic blending.
• Dolls must wear a diaper only.
• The KDS basket must be covered with a plain white blanket, with the doll placed on top.
• Focus should remain on lifelike presentation, precision, and craftsmanship.
• Overall presentation should be clean, stable, and professional.
HOW ENTRIES ARE JUDGED
Judges will evaluate the following:
• Quality and execution of silicone painting techniques
• Realism of skin tones, shading, and depth
• Rooting or painted hair application
• Fine detail work, including veining, blushing, and finishing•Seam finishing and surface refinement
• Overall lifelike realism
• Presentation• Artistic execution and attention to detail
Judging is based on technical skill, realism, craftsmanship, and overall presentation.

Silicone Baby Category
Be sure to reserve your spot early before all contest slots are filled! Contestants must attend the Kansas Doll Show on both Saturday and Sunday. Winners will be announced during the Awards Banquet on Saturday. You DO NOT have to attend the Awards Banquet to receive your trophy if you win, but you must be at the show on Sunday to pick up your trophy or award.
